Introduction

Om Seating commissioned a full cast of cartoon-style 3D illustrations for a magnetic office furniture play set-collectible, multicolor, and designed to delight at events. Three interior scenes, a full line of OM-style furniture, and Ozzie the mascot with his own accessories. Everything separated so it snaps together however you want.

An office furniture brand wanted to show up at events in a way that didn't feel like a tradeshow. The answer was a collectible magnetic play set — furniture you can actually rearrange, characters you actually want to keep, packaged in a tin box you don't throw away.

The Brief

Om Seating makes modular, multicolour office furniture — playful by nature, but most brand touchpoints at events were standard: banners, brochures, branded pens. The brief was to create something people would actually want to take home. A magnetic play set in a collectible tin box, featuring miniature versions of Om products alongside original characters, all rendered in a flat cartoon style that matched the brand's energy without feeling corporate. The set needed to work as a conversation piece on a desk as much as a hands-on demo tool at events. Every asset was delivered with a transparent background so the pieces could be composed freely across any surface or backdrop.

The Furniture

Every Om Seating product in the set was modelled from scratch against the real catalogue — chairs, sofas, desks, modular seating — then translated into the flat cartoon language. The challenge was keeping each piece recognizable as an Om product while stripping it back to pure shape and color. No texture. No realistic lighting. The constraint made every silhouette do more work: a chair had to read as a chair at thumbnail size, in isolation, with nothing around it. Transparent backgrounds meant the pieces could be placed on any scene without a halo — the set works as a physical toy and as a digital asset library.

The Environments

The three interiors serve as magnetic backdrops — flat planes onto which any furniture piece can be placed and rearranged. The style deliberately compresses perspective into graphic blocks of colour: walls become solid fields, floors are single flat tones, windows are graphic cutouts. No shadows. No gradients. The flatness is the point — it makes every piece of furniture read clearly, and it makes the whole set feel like a toy rather than a product catalogue. Each scene was designed to feel like a different personality within the same visual language: open-plan, private office, breakout lounge. Same rules, different moods.

The Mascot

Ozzie the mascot was a clean brief in the best way: no reference, no existing character, just "he fits the world." Starting from scratch meant every decision was a first principle — species choice, posture, expression, proportions. A frog reads friendly without being babyish, physically comedic without trying too hard. The final character sits low and wide, with expressive hands and enough facial flexibility to carry a range of accessories: hard hat, briefcase, different seating configurations. He was designed to be the face of the set at events, recognizable at a glance and adaptable enough to be repurposed across future Om communications.

In Use

Om Seating has been using the set within their events since delivery — as a hands-on desk toy, as a conversation-starter on exhibition stands, and as a branded gift that doesn't end up in a drawer. The transparent backgrounds mean new scenes and configurations can be composited at any point without returning to the original files. The froggy mascot has taken on a life of his own.
